Questions

BOS Afora Questions, Answered Plainly

The questions Nigerian business owners ask before they pay for a business app: what it costs, what is free, what happens to your records, whether staff can use it and whether it fits your shop. Each answer says only what BOS Afora does today.

01

About BOS Afora

What it is, who is behind it and how it compares with what you use today.

What is BOS Afora, and who is it for?

BOS Afora is a business app for Nigerian small and medium businesses. You tell it what you sold, bought, spent or collected by typing, speaking or tapping, and it keeps your records of sales, expenses, stock and customer debts, shows your revenue, expenses and profit, and sends you a business briefing every evening at 8PM. It is built for provision stores, pharmacies, fashion shops, supermarkets, wholesalers, POS agents, restaurants and other Nigerian retailers and service businesses.

Is BOS Afora a registered Nigerian company?

BOS Afora is built and operated by ChuksForge AI Solutions Ltd, a company registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria under RC 9523804. You can check that registration number with the CAC yourself.

Is BOS Afora the same product as BosApp?

No. BOS Afora is a separate product from BosApp and the two are unrelated. BOS Afora is made by ChuksForge AI Solutions Ltd (RC 9523804) and lives at bosafora.com.

Is BOS Afora better than Excel or a notebook?

Excel and a notebook cost nothing, and for a very small business they can be enough. The difference is effort. With BOS Afora you describe a sale in one sentence and it updates your stock, your customer balances and your profit for you. In a spreadsheet you enter every figure and build the formulas yourself. BOS Afora also sends an evening briefing and debt reminders, which a notebook or a spreadsheet cannot do on its own.

Why choose BOS Afora over other business apps?

Four things stand out. You record in plain language by typing, speaking or tapping, including voice notes in English, Pidgin, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa. It sends an automatic business briefing every evening at 8PM without you asking. It is priced in naira, from ₦4,000 a month after a free start. And it runs in your browser, so there is nothing to download.

Pricing, free plan and billing

What it costs, what is free, how payment and renewal work, and which plan fits.

How much does BOS Afora cost?

You can start free: the Free plan gives you 75 transactions every month and needs no credit card. Paid plans are Starter at ₦4,000 per month (₦40,000 per year) for a single business, and Pro at ₦10,000 per month (₦100,000 per year) for up to 5 branches. Quarterly and weekly payment options are also available. Enterprise pricing is custom. There are no per-message fees.

What do I get on the free plan?

The Free plan gives you 75 transactions every month and no credit card. The count resets on the 1st of each month (West Africa Time). Sales, expenses, debts, repayments and restocks each count as a transaction, and asking BOS questions does not. Free plan limits: up to 20 customers who owe you, 20 inventory items, 5 receipts and 5 invoices, and export of the current month only. When you want more, open Settings, choose Upgrade, pick Starter or Pro and pay through the Paystack or Flutterwave checkout.

What happens when I reach the free limit?

BOS Afora refuses new transactions and shows an upgrade prompt. Nothing is deleted. A single message that holds more transactions than you have left is rejected as a whole, so split it into smaller messages or upgrade. The count resets on the 1st of the next month.

Is BOS Afora worth ₦4,000 a month?

Starter is ₦4,000 a month, or ₦40,000 a year. For comparison, entry-level bookkeeper and accountant roles in Lagos are commonly advertised at ₦80,000 to ₦150,000 a month, so Starter costs about as much as one day of that person's time. BOS Afora does not file taxes or give accounting advice, so a business that needs those still needs an accountant. You can try it first on the Free plan, which gives you 75 transactions every month.

Should I choose Starter or Pro?

Choose Starter if you run one business. It covers unlimited sales, expense and debt logging, unlimited products, daily, weekly and monthly insights, voice notes, debt reminders, low-stock alerts, customer receipts and the last 90 days of Excel export. Choose Pro if you run up to 5 branches, or if you want branch performance ranking, a daily business health score, 14 and 30 day cashflow forecasts, customer intelligence and all-time export history.

Are there hidden charges or per-message fees?

There are no per-message fees and no hidden charges. The prices on this site are the prices: Starter at ₦4,000 a month, Pro at ₦10,000 a month, and Enterprise quoted individually through bos@chuksforge.com.

How do I pay, and is checkout secure?

Open Settings, choose Upgrade, pick Starter or Pro and pay through the secure Paystack or Flutterwave checkout. Your plan updates as soon as the payment is confirmed.

Can I pay weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly?

Yes. Starter is ₦1,000 a week, ₦4,000 a month, ₦10,500 a quarter or ₦40,000 a year. Pro is ₦10,000 a month, ₦27,000 a quarter or ₦100,000 a year. Paying for a quarter saves ₦1,500 on Starter and ₦3,000 on Pro compared with three monthly payments, and paying yearly saves two months.

Will BOS Afora charge my card automatically?

Only if you pay by card (or bank direct debit where it is offered) and leave Renew automatically switched on. You can switch it off any time on the Upgrade screen, and you do not need to contact us. About 2 days before each automatic charge we send you a notice with the amount and the date. Bank transfer and USSD payments never renew by themselves. If a payment fails, we try again up to 3 times and you keep your plan for up to 3 extra days. If it still fails, the account returns to the Free plan and keeps its data.

How do I cancel my plan?

Switch off Renew automatically on the Upgrade screen. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, and then the account returns to the Free plan and keeps its data. You can also remove a saved card from the Upgrade screen at any time.

03

Profit and your numbers

How profit is counted, and how mistakes and returns are handled.

How does BOS Afora calculate profit?

Profit is the money that came in minus the money that went out, counted when the cash moves. Money in is your sales plus the debts customers repay. Money out is your recorded expenses, including stock you buy. A sale on credit counts as revenue when the customer pays, not when they take the goods. Item-level margins use a weighted-average cost and are shown separately from the headline profit figure.

See the full explanation with examples →

Why did my profit drop when I bought stock?

A restock recorded with a unit cost counts as an expense on the day you buy it, so a large restock lowers that period's profit even though the goods are still on your shelf. You can record a restock without counting it as an expense. Profit here is a cash view of your business, and it is not the same as the profit figure used for tax.

How stock purchases are counted →

How are customer returns handled?

A return puts the item back in stock and records a negative sale, so revenue, profit and reports go down by that amount. If you do not give an amount, BOS uses the item's last selling price and tells you in its reply. A return of goods that were sold on credit does not yet reduce what the customer owes.

What if I record something wrong?

Tell BOS what to fix, for example "Fix yesterday's rice sale to 40k". For something you just recorded, you can cancel it straight away. For older entries, ask BOS to fix or remove that specific one.

Your data and security

Where records live, who can see them, which services process your messages, and how to export or delete.

Where is my business data stored?

Your records are stored in a managed cloud database. The servers that process your messages run on a cloud hosting service, short-lived working data is held in a temporary cache, and receipt and invoice PDFs are kept privately and opened through expiring links.

Read the data and security page →

Who can see my business records?

Every request is limited to your own account. A staff member you invite sees your data for the one branch they are assigned to. Authorised ChuksForge team members with administrator access can see account data, and administrator actions, logins, billing events, exports and deletions are logged.

Is my data sent to AI services?

Some of it is. When BOS cannot read a message with its built-in rules, the text of that message is sent to a third-party AI service to be interpreted, and voice notes are sent to a third-party AI service to be transcribed. These AI calls are also logged in a monitoring service we use to check that the AI is working properly.

What happens to my records if I lose my phone?

Your records live in your BOS Afora account, so they are available on any device. Open app.bosafora.com in the browser on another phone and sign in to your account.

Can I take my records with me if I stop using BOS Afora?

Yes. You can export to Excel (.xlsx) with your full history, or sales only, or expenses only. Starter includes the last 90 days and Pro includes all-time history.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Open Settings, then Data & Privacy, or ask BOS in Chat to delete your data. Deleting is immediate and cannot be undone, and there is no 30 day grace period. It erases your transactions, customers, inventory, reminders, daily summaries, invoices, receipts, chat history, notifications, branches, saved payment methods and stored files, and it clears the business name, address, city, phone number and email from your account. Payment, commission and consent records are kept. Copies held by the AI services that BOS uses follow those services' own retention.

Using BOS Afora every day

What it tracks, which languages it understands and how staff, branches and poor connections are handled.

Can BOS Afora track stock, sales, expenses and customer debts automatically?

Yes. Describe what happened, for example "Sold 10 bags of rice at 45k each". BOS Afora logs the sale with item, quantity and price, updates your stock levels, keeps each customer's balance current, warns you before stock runs out and keeps a running list of who owes you.

Can I use voice notes in Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa?

Yes. BOS Afora understands English, Pidgin, Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa, in typed messages and in voice notes.

Can my staff record sales on their phones while I watch the business from mine?

Yes. You invite each staff member with a one-time invite code that works for 24 hours. They record entries on their own phone for the one branch they are assigned to, and they cannot manage branches or invites or see the staff list. A staff member can undo or fix only their own entries, in their own branch, within 24 hours of recording them, and bulk undo is for the owner only. Entries are never erased: a cancelled entry is marked as reversed. Branches need the Pro plan, with up to 5, and Enterprise has unlimited branches and users.

Can I manage several shops or branches from one account?

Yes. Pro supports up to 5 branches with individual reports and a branch performance ranking, so you can see which location needs attention. Enterprise has unlimited branches and locations.

How to compare branches properly →

Can I record sales without internet?

Yes, with Quick Actions. The Sale and Expense Quick Actions work offline: entries are saved on your device (up to 200) and sync in order when you are back online, and entries older than 7 days wait for your review instead of syncing automatically. Chat and voice notes need an internet connection, because the message is read and the voice note is transcribed on our servers, and a message that fails to send is not queued. The web app also shows recently viewed screens from its cache.

Does BOS Afora track expiry dates for pharmacy stock?

Not yet. Inventory tracks the item name, quantity, unit, cost price, low-stock level and a photo. There are no expiry or batch fields and no expiry alerts, so a pharmacy that needs expiry tracking should keep doing that separately for now.

Can I track sizes and colours for fashion stock?

Each size or colour is tracked as its own item name, for example "polo red L". There is no separate size or colour picker yet.

Can BOS Afora cost recipes and ingredients?

Not yet. There are no recipes, and selling a dish does not deduct its ingredients. A dish's margin works when the dish itself is stocked with a cost price, and ingredient purchases can be logged as expenses.
